As you kow, the Basque writer Gotzon Garate died in Bilbao last week (8th October) at the age of 74. Gotzon Garate was born in Elgoibar in 1934 and he has become one of the greatest exponents of the Basque language and literature. Among some of his degrees we can find a great curriculum: Doctor of Philosophy in Madrid, Theology Graduate in Austria, Romance Philology Graduate in Bilbao, expert on Marxist Sociology in Switzerland , Professor of Basque Literature at Deusto University and so on. He wrote about 30 books in Basque and he is famous for his crime novels and for his work about the oral Basque language. One of his most remarkable prizes is the «Argizaiola» prize, which he received in 2005.
