So there is a widely fluctuating population throughout the year.
Cambridge lies on the River Cam, a tributary of the Ouse. It is surrounded by farmland, with flat, peaty fens to the north, and chalk hills to the south. It is the county town of Cambridgeshire. Nearby towns and cities include Ely, Huntingdon, Newmarket, Bedford and Peterborough. Cambridge is about 50 miles (80 kilometres) north of London.
